About

With nearly a decade of professional experience in copywriting, editing, proofreading, and research, Popper Creative offers a diverse and extensive skill set in all types of written communication. Experience highlights include freelance writing for financial services, retail, travel, lifestyle, and food industries. From lengthy technical discourse to quirky one-liners, if it required a keyboard to produce, chances are I’ve done it.  Writing up the “company story” isn’t enough to create a marketing movement. It must be clear, honest, interesting, and engaging to make a reader click through, turn the page, or pick up the phone.

My background is in literature. I hold a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley and a M.A. in English and American Literature from Mills College. I’m represented by the John Talbot Literary Agency in New York City, and I have a creative non-fiction book proposal presently in the marketplace. The by-product of such training includes expertise in grammar, style, proofreading, research, and line editing.

I’ve taught the following subjects at the middle school, high school and college level: English and American Literature, Poetry, SAT /college admissions preparation, and various writing and composition workshops.

I have a passion for all things aesthetic: teapots, cloth-covered books, curly-cues, vintage jewelry. When I’m up against a wall in a debate I speak slowly and become smugly intellectual, a la James Lipton. I love sleeping in libraries and through bad movies, and tend to get fidgety at fancy parties.

Addictions include Edgar Allan Poe, early American print culture, thrift shops, and sugar in its various forms. And coffee. Phil’z Coffee in the Mission District. Lots of it.
